Just this morning I was having a conversation with someone about it nearly being November already and it made me realise how time is seemingly speeding up as I advance in years! It doesn’t seem two minutes ago that we were seeing in a New Year full of hope and possibilities and that will again be the case in little more than a couple of months. Indeed 2025 has been a busy one for me – as well as all the things that go with having a young family, I’ve made a conscious effort to do a lot more reading and novel consumption. I’m currently reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir which has been a real voyage of discovery for me personally (as well as the protagonist Ryland Grace). For the uninitiated, it’s all about a high school teacher being alone in space on a mission to save Earth. Sci-fi isn’t what I normally read at all but I’ve been fascinated by the story arc and flashback techniques with the narrative told in two alternate timelines. It’s pretty laden with a lot of physics which is way over my head and has required a little more concentration than normal. That’s meant I’ve probably read a lot less in one go than I normally would before my eyelids shut (before-bed reading is my thing and only chance to read with young kids!). However it has been a refreshing and eye-opening change for me and one I’ve enjoyed – I’m excited for the film version with Ryan Gosling next year. I have also set off with another novel of my own which is a crime thriller and though progress has been a little slower than my busy life has allowed I’m excited to crack on with it for the rest of what’s left this year and hopefully have a finished manuscript in 2026. My ambition is to finish that one and then pick up the story of Andreios and the Immortals with a sequel. So many ideas and so little time! Isn’t that just life? Anyway I hope anyone reading this has had a fruitful 2025 and is keeping well. One of my other ambitions is to blog more regularly and maintain this site on a much more regular basis so here’s to keeping on top of that and all of the above! Thanks for reading.
